Day 3 brings us to beautiful Colorado Springs. Finally, a break from the road. More importantly, a chance to break out the bikes.
In the afternoon we hit Red Rock Canyon Open Space. We are definitely no longer in Texas with giant red clay hills to climb. Of course, climbing hundreds of feet at 6,000 feet above sea level, required more than a little acclimation.
The best part was the really cool little skills area. That is until I bit it, coming off a rather large rock. Oh well; wounds heal, bones mend, and chicks dig scars.
After a little recuperation back at the well situated Goldfield RV Park, it was off to Manitou Springs for dinner and a drink or two. Manitou is a must see spot if you are ever in the area. Bustling little town full of quaint restaurants, bars, hotels, and shopping right at the base of the mountains.
We got caught in a mountain shower just when a place called The Keg was calling. Great timing. A buffalo burger and a local brewed Scottish ale were a perfect capper for this great change in scenery.
